Emergency Management (EM) is one of the fastest-growing disciplines in the United States today, with excellent employment prospects in both the public and private sectors. Employment growth in northern Nevada includes opportunities in protecting technology and critical infrastructure, emergency planning, and leadership/management roles of traditional first responders.

Our Bachelor of Applied Science in Emergency Management (BAS-EM) will provide you with a well-rounded foundation in the history, politics, defense and preparedness aspects of terrorism. You’ll learn about management principles of planning, mitigation, response and recovery from natural and manmade disasters in emergency management roles.
Graduates of the program will be able to conduct planning analysis, write and implement emergency plans for public and private entities, and address homeland security issues within the emergency management role.
What Will I Study?
The BAS-EM includes 60 upper-division credits primarily offered as online distance learning courses. A complete course list can be found on our Frequently Asked Questions. The program includes internship opportunities as an elective, and all candidates for the degree will be required to take a Capstone course.
All courses are available online and regional students and students from outside northern Nevada are encouraged to apply. Our skilled instructors will share their vast experience and knowledge in diverse fields such as communications, fiscal administration, and ethics.
