Commencement Information
Commencement 2010
Have you completed your graduation application?
May 21 at 10 a.m.
Date and location: TMCC will hold commencement on Friday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at the Dandini Campus plaza. Graduates should arrive dressed in their caps and gowns no later than 9 a.m. and proceed directly to the Vista Building, room B206, for instructions. The ceremony will last approximately two hours.
Please Respond By May 15, Via e-mail at graduation@tmcc.edu, if you plan to attend. Your RSVP helps us assure that you have a seat among your fellow graduates on this important day.
Commencement Printed Program and Media Releases: If you would like your name included in the commencement program and media releases, you must apply for graduation by April 1.
Announcements/Academic Attire: Cap, gown and tassel are to be purchased in the TMCC Bookstore, Dandini Campus. The cost is approximately $28.95 for academic attire. Additional tassels are available for $5. The TMCC Bookstore will have academic attire in stock 4-6 weeks before commencement. Students may also purchase announcements. The cost is $15 for a pack of 10 announcements. Thank you cards are available for $10. For more information, please call 775-673-7172.
Decorum: All participants are expected to dress properly in honor of the occasion and to exhibit mature behavior during the commencement activities. All participants are asked to remain in the seating area throughout the ceremony.
Distinction: To qualify for distinction during commencement students must have a 3.75 GPA or higher (including transfer credits). Distinction candidates will wear gold cords and tassels during the ceremony and will be noted in the commencement program. Candidates will be notified by letter if they are to receive this distinction. Candidates who have applied for graduation for summer semester are not eligible for this distinction.
Phi Theta Kappa: Graduates must be a member of this International Honor Society to receive this designation at commencement. Members must purchase their gold stole and tassel from the PTK. Order early, allowing four to five weeks for delivery; priority shipping is available for an additional charge. To place an order, please call 800-946-9996. Seating: Family, friends, and the public are cordially invited to attend the free commencement activities. Because it is open seating, guests are encouraged to arrive early. Ushers will escort special guests to reserved seating.
Parking: Graduates should park in lots AA and BB located off Raggio Parkway. Family and friends may park in the north lot in areas G, H and I and the south lot in areas EE, FF, CC and GG. Please refer to the Dandini Campus map for the locations of the parking lots and assembly area.
Photographs: Immediately after the commencement ceremony, Herff Jones/Ross Photo will be available to take your picture individually or with your family in a designated room on campus. These packages will range from $30 to $65. For these photos, packages are to be paid that day prior to the pictures being taken. There is a 100% satisfaction guarantee. An information sheet will be sent to you prior to the ceremony.
Diplomas: If you are a fall graduate, you may have received your diploma. If you are a spring graduate or summer graduate you will be notified upon completion of your degree requirements when you may pick up your diploma.
Reception: A reception for graduates, families and friends will be held immediately following the ceremony. The SGA will serve cake and punch. NOTE: alcoholic beverages are not allowed at TMCC.

Qualifying students and participants are entitled to free accommodations/services to provide equal access to the graduation ceremony according to federal disability laws. Please contact the Disability Resource Center. Two weeks advanced notice prior to the date of the event will help ensure arrangement of appropriate services.
