The program can offer all services at no cost to students through federal and state grants awarded to us by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) Office of Career Readiness, Adult Learning & Education Options. In order to receive continued funding, the program must follow policies. While there are no monetary expenses for students, we ask that students help us fulfill our mission by following the program's policies.
Attendance
Regular attendance is critical to a student’s success in any program as a student gains maximum benefit from attending regularly. Absences will be recorded. Students should contact their instructor prior to the start of class if they are going to miss a class. Depending on the length of the class, the total number of absences will vary. 85% attendance and the required course work is the expectation to receive a completion for any program. Each instructor will have specific details on attendance expectations and course completion.
Absences
For all absences, students are responsible for ensuring that all efforts are made to discuss as appropriate a plan for making up work during the absences. Not all work or assessments can be made up as some are based on hands on or group work that cannot be recreated. Some progress may be impacted due to absences. Absences totaling over 20% of the class’s scheduled meeting time may cause a student to be dropped. With respect to any absence, presentations and skills training cannot be duplicated which will impact the students’ ability to earn their certification. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the instructor of their absence. Tutoring is available and will need to be scheduled. All make-up work and credit are subject to the instructor’s approval.
