Timeline/Activities for High School Seniors Planning on Attending TMCC

October

• Start the Steps to Enroll at TMCC by completing the TMCC admissions application. For students attending a Washoe County School District (WCSD) high school, talk to your counselor or career tech about attending a TMCC application workshop at your high school. It should only take five to seven business days to receive your acceptance letter from TMCC.  
• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and quick, and it gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college. If you need assistance please contact TMCC's Financial Aid office.

November

• Meet with the teacher of any class that you are not doing as well as you would like and find out how you can improve your grade.
• Start your scholarship search now. For additional resources, review the TMCC Scholarship Information website.
• Receive your student aid report (SAR) within four to six weeks of submitting your FAFSA.
• Review your SAR carefully for accuracy. Make any necessary corrections and resubmit your FAFSA online.
• Contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center if you have not received your SAR after four to six weeks.

December

• Meet with your counselor again to review your scholarship application materials prior to submitting.
• If you have not already done so, schedule a campus visit to TMCC. 
• If you are planning to take the ACCUPLACER exam at TMCC, take the time to study! Study! Study!

January

• Take the ACCUPLACER placement exam. For students attending a WCSD high school ask your counselor if a TMCC recruiter will proctor the ACCUPLACER at your high school. TMCC also accepts ACT or SAT scores. 
• Don't slack off on your class work! The grades from your last term are very important, even though the temptation to kick back and enjoy your last days of high school is strong.

February

• Apply for the Success First Summer Bridge Program. 
• Complete TMCC's scholarship application. TMCC's scholarship application is a great way to find opportunities to help you pay for college. Apply early and don't miss any deadlines. 
• Check MyTMCC student portal for additional information or to-do items from the College.
• Request that your scores from any college entrance (SAT/ACT) or advanced placement exams you took to be sent to TMCC.
• Attend TMCC's annual CTE Open House. 

March

• Complete New Student Orientation.
• If you are unhappy with your ACT/SAT/ACCUPLACER test results, take the ACCUPLACER at TMCC. Test scores are very important! Be sure to take the test seriously and study! Study! Study!
• Enjoy your last few months but don't stop studying!
• Check the TMCC Events Calendar to find information about prospective student events at TMCC.
• Check MyTMCC student portal for additional information or to do items from the College.

April

• Review your financial aid award package with your parents to make sure you both understand the requirements and responsibilities of each type of aid.
• Enroll in classes. At TMCC we use MyTMCC, an online registration system. You can follow the online instructions or come to the Dandini Campus and visit the Welcome Center for assistance. 
• Check MyTMCC student portal for additional information or to do items from the College.
• Attend TMCC's annual Spring Open House.

May

• Work with your parents to plan a budget for your anticipated expenses including books, supplies, transportation and living expenses.
• Know when fees are due for the classes in which you've enrolled.
• Check MyTMCC student portal for additional information or to do items from the College.

June

• Watch for additional information from the College. TMCC posts notifications regarding admission and financial status to MyTMCC or communicates with you through the College email account set up for you.
• Respond to requests for information or additional forms immediately.
• Congratulations! You've made it through high school!
• Check MyTMCC student portal for additional information or to-do items from the College.

July

• Review the materials you received at orientation to make sure you understand dates and deadlines for fee payments, when classes start, how to make changes to your class schedule and College policies and procedures.
• Watch for your packet from the Millennium Scholarship Office, if you are eligible for this award, and follow instructions for accepting the award. If you have questions about this scholarship program visit their website.
• Notify TMCC's Financial Aid office of any scholarships you may have been awarded from private donors and confirm with the donor that the TMCC Financial Aid Office will have the check by the first week of August.
• Check MyTMCC student portal for additional information or to-do items from the College.

August

• Pay your fees if you have not already done so.
• Check MyTMCC for any changes to your fees or schedule. For payment options please contact the Accounting Services Office.
• Confirm your class schedule and locations of your classes. TMCC offers classes throughout the community so make sure you know where your class is being taught.
• Start classes and make sure that your instructors have your name on their class rosters. If there is any question regarding your enrollment, talk to the staff in the Admissions and Records Office.
• Get help if you need it. Adjustments to College can be stressful. Processes are different and expectations are different, so don't hesitate to talk to someone about your anxieties or difficulty adjusting. The TMCC Counseling Center is a terrific resource for listening and helping you learn strategies for coping.
• Remember that College staff is more than willing to answer any questions you have. Don't assume you know the answers about how to drop or change a class, how refunds work, whether your financial aid was applied correctly. Check your status for new information or to do lists on MyTMCC.
• Enjoy your first year in College!
