Many employers seeking paralegals prefer those who have previous work experience, but how can you acquire that experience? One answer is participation in the Internship Program.
In TMCC's Paralegal/Law Program, you can obtain a guided, practical internship in a practice area of interest. We highly recommend the internship, because it gives you the opportunity to gain practical experience before graduation.
On-the-job activities include: setting learning outcomes, keeping a work log, drafting a resume, and writing a final project.
Throughout the term of the internship, you would have contact with a full-time faculty member to ensure that the internship experience is beneficial for everyone. You may choose from a list of internship opportunities through the department, or seek your own internship site pending department approval.
Past placements have included non-profit legal agencies, law office settings and government agencies.
This invaluable experience will help to better prepare you for the job market, by giving you the practical experience so many offices seek when hiring new paralegals.
