Academic Success Kit (ASK) Program
Students are placed on academic probation when their GPA is less than a 2.0. An academic hold is then in effect, preventing students from registering for the next semester. Students will receive an email and a letter in their MyTMCC Communication Center informing them of their academic status.
To remove the hold, students must participate in a workshop that addresses self-reflection as the initial way to connect with the seriousness of being on probation. Onsite workshops are available at the beginning of a semester; students are encouraged to attend these so as not to miss their first available registration date.
Program components include: communication about being on probation, a holistic intervention designed to assess reasons for being on probation, mid-term progress reports, and follow-up services. The ASK program integrates cross-departmental collaboration by including various aspects of student services and academic areas.
If students do not participate in the onsite (in-person) workshops, then an online workshop will be posted and available after registration has begun for the following semester.
Contact us at 775-673-7060 to schedule your workshop.

Take 5: Wellness Outreach Program
This programming effort encourages students to stop to take a few minutes out of their busy days and lives to practice self-care. Each week stress-reducing activities such as lanyard making, coloring, stress balls, and board games are offered to the student population to help reduce stress levels and help students stay healthy. Counselors are present at all Take 5 activities to help students who may be experiencing difficulties coping with their stress, anxiety and more.
See the TMCC Events Calendar for upcoming Take 5 dates.
