Competitive Scholarships and the Importance of International Exchange: with a Focus on the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange

Description: Come learn about the benefits of international experience towards your future career. This presentation will focus on U.S. State Department sponsored exchanges, and specifically the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX). CBYX is a reciprocal exchange program funded by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag, that sends 75 young Americans and 75 young Germans to spend a year living, studying, and working in Germany and the U.S. each year. Participants attend university, live with host families, and complete an internship in their field. Please join us to learn about this prestigious program.
Presenter: Max Flescher
Max serves as Senior Program Officer for the Global Programs for Young Professionals department at Cultural Vistas, overseeing the inbound side of the Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals.
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Max graduated from Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and German Studies. During his junior year, Max studied abroad for eight months in Regensburg, Germany.
Max began working at Cultural Vistas in 2013 as the CBYX Program Assistant. Since then he has come to have primary responsibility for the entire inbound side of the program. He is responsible for placing all 75 German CBYX participants at colleges and with host families around the U.S. every year.
