Safe Zone Trainings
Safe Zone trainings provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about LGBTQIA+ identities, gender and sexual identities and examine their own assumptions and privileges along the way. The training includes vocabulary terms, discussion of different issues impacting the LGBTQIA+ community generally and on college campuses specifically, and strategies for supporting LGBTQIA+ students. Participants will have a chance to ask questions and reflect on their own lives and experiences.
With National Coming Out Day approaching on October 10th, there’s no better time to engage in this important conversation and learn how to be an ally. Whether you’re looking to increase your knowledge, support your students, or contribute to a more inclusive campus community, this training is a meaningful step forward.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will increase their understanding of sexuality and gender for themselves and in others, with an emphasis on terminology and concepts around sexual and gender identities.
- Participants will be better able to support LGBTQIA+ students in the classroom and on campus generally, through learning more effective language and strategies specific to this population.
- Overall, participants will learn about allyship and how to be more effective allies to the LGBTQIA+ community specifically.
