Lab Fee: $100. Enrollment in this class requires departmental consent. This is an accelerated course. All required documents must be complete prior to being allowed to register for the course. Students are also required to purchase the class uniform (cost approx. $150) and additional equipment. Department will share a link for this information once eligibility documentation is in full compliance. Students will be required to complete the skills and national written test to become certified. NREMT skills testing is offered after the completion of the course (Cost: $100).In the event of public health restrictions or other emergencies, classes may need to be changed to Web-Live, Web, or Hybrid instruction modes. Description
The primary focus of the Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual posses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transport. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. At the successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to receive EMT Certification from the National Registry of EMTs and the State of Nevada Health Division. Students must be 18 years old upon completion of this class. * This course satisfies 18 hours of instruction toward completing the embedded Human Relations curriculum requirements, in accordance with Embedded Curriculum Guidelines Option A.
