Description

This course prepares the Paramedic to identify, assess, manage, and treat age-related emergencies, and other special challenges. The student will also be introduced to the concept of assessment-based management. Topics include Neonatology, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Abuse and Assault, and Patients with Special Challenges. This course satisfies 12 hours of instruction toward completing the embedded Human Relations curriculum requirements, in accordance with Embedded Curriculum Guidelines Option A.

Description

This course will prepare the paramedic student to identify, assess, manage, and treat various types of trauma emergencies. The ITLS course will teach paramedic students the skills necessary to recognize mechanisms of injury, assess, perform critical interventions, package for transport, and fundamental knowledge and experiences necessary to deliver the trauma patient to the emergency department. Description

This course prepares the Paramedic student to identify single and multi-lead cardiac rhythms and treat those rhythms considered to be life-threatening with electrical therapy. The skills taught include defibrillation, cardioversion, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. It will also prepare the student to assess, manage and treat various cardiovascular emergencies that includes ventricular fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia, myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, pulmonary edema, angina pectoris, congestive heart failure, hypertension, PEA (pulseless electrical activity), and asystole.
