Even as we face uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic, students are still thinking about their educational and professional futures. But, how can you get to know a college if you can’t actually visit it? TMCC’s Recruitment and Access Center (RAC) has been hard at work developing an answer to that question.
Starting Tuesday, March 31, TMCC experts will host a series of interactive, live chats that will enable prospective and current students several opportunities to speak one-on-one with TMCC faculty and staff about specific programs and support services. Unlike other campus tours where we would tell you to wear comfortable shoes, this one you can attend in your fluffy slippers from the comfort (and safety) of your own home. However, rest assured that you will definitely get the answers you’re looking for in regards to how TMCC can help you to begin or continue your educational journey.
“The purpose of this series of webinars is to strengthen our connection with the community,” said RAC Director Yuli Chavez. “We want to provide information to help all prospective students know that we are still here for them, and we are ready to help them.”
All live chats will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. on Facebook Live. If you miss a session, you can catch a recording afterward on TMCC’s Facebook and YouTube channels. These webinars will offer you 30 minutes to connect directly with TMCC staff to learn about the ongoing supports that are available to students and members of the community. Everyone, said Chavez, is welcome to attend.
“We want to provide useful information to help people, whether they are prospective students, their families, members of the community— as a community college, we want to show that TMCC is here to help everyone through the difficult times we are in.”
So, be sure to bring your questions—and your excitement about your education—to these 30 minute seminars meant to connect you to our campus community and to help you to succeed in your current or future classes.
Tuesday, March 31: Counseling and Support Services at TMCC
In this webinar, you’ll join TMCC Counselors for an in-depth look at the resources available to students through the Counseling Center and the Disability Resource Center and other support services. “In times of uncertainty, it’s understandable to feel stressed or isolated. The TMCC Counseling Center will show participants how the college is still here to help you to help you achieve your goals. Even though you might be at home alone, you are not alone,” said Chavez.

The live chats are open to anyone who would like to know more about the support services at TMCC, and how to enroll for classes at the college.
“I am excited to see TMCC move in this direction, be creative, and test out opportunities to extend outreach to students and community members through a live platform,” said Dr. Natalie Brown, Executive Director of Advising & Access Services. “Although we have moved to operating remotely, we are still 100% about our community at our core, so finding ways to stay connected is so important.”
