The world of business needs professionals who understand communications, operations, accounting and so much more. If you’re interested in joining the ranks of a large or small corporation, starting your own company, or finding a job in the worlds of marketing, finance or management, well...“your business is our business.”
So, let’s get down to “business”—whether you’re just starting your journey in higher education or perhaps returning after a break, TMCC offers plenty of options as you choose a field that’s right for you.
Business Communications Skills Certificate
TMCC is broadening its educational offerings with cutting edge certifications and degrees, equipping you with the professional knowledge and skills needed for future workplace demands. In Fall 2024, the new Business Communications Skills Certificate embodies this commitment, fostering skilled individuals prepared for any career opportunity that might come your way.
No matter what profession you are pursuing, you will stand out if your business communication skills are spot on! Employers are always looking for individuals with strong communication skills and TMCC’s lineup of classes will provide you with skills to be successful in conflict management, effective listening and customer service, to name just a few. “It would be a great certificate to pair with any other TMCC degree or certificate program, or as a stand alone option,” said Amy Williams, Dean of the Business and Social Sciences Division.

Business FastTrack Program
TMCC’s Business FastTrack option is a great choice if you want to complete your associate’s degree in Business quickly. "This program is ideal for anyone who wants to get their degree done! Whether you're working full time, have a family, or just aren’t interested in traditional education, you will benefit from this program," said Amanda Starkel, a Business FastTrack student.
Required courses are offered in five-week blocks with short breaks in between some classes and the program can be completed in one or two years. You can focus on just one class at a time for the two-year program, or two classes at a time if you want to complete the program in one year.
Flexibility is what makes this program so appealing to students. “Either option is completed fully online so that students can study and learn at the times that are convenient for their schedule,” said Williams.
Upon completing the program, you’ll be prepared for success in today’s competitive business market. And if your goal is to obtain a bachelor’s degree, the courses are fully transferable to University Nevada, Reno and many other four-year institutions.
Microsoft Office Specialist
If you are looking to sharpen your computer skills and become more proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, TMCC’s EPIC (Educational Programs Inspiring the Community) department offers a comprehensive seven week program that will equip you with versatile skills to enhance your career prospects by mastering the world’s most widely used office software suite.
“By completing this program, you'll be prepared to take certification exams for each software application (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), testing for certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist: Associate in each,” said Fayth Ross, EPIC’s Program Director.
No application is required to enroll in this program and registration is open now. The next session begins on Sept. 9.
