Learn Something New with EPIC's Fall Course Offerings

Registration for EPIC (Educational Programs Inspiring the Community) Fall Semester 2024 courses has officially opened and includes a diverse lineup of classes designed to engage and educate community members of all ages. Fall classes include a mix of returning favorites and exciting new options, including courses created for tweens and teens, ages 12–17, and new accelerated training certificates like Microsoft Office Specialist.

“With no college application required, our programs celebrate curiosity, creativity, and connection. Whether you’re pursuing a passion or exploring something entirely new, there’s something for everyone at TMCC EPIC,” said Fayth Ross, EPIC Program Director.

A Broad Spectrum of Classes

Offerings include creative arts, food and beverage classes, technology, health and wellness, and personal development. Highlights include:

  • Art and Creativity: Courses in painting, pottery, and digital photography.
  • Culinary Skills: Cooking classes focusing on international cuisines, baking, and nutrition.
  • Tech Savvy: Introduction to AI, digital marketing, and Excel.
  • Health and Wellness: Yoga, meditation and fitness training.
  • Personal Growth: Elements of fiction workshop series, styling basics, and financial planning.

New Additions

This fall, new classes have been introduced in response to community feedback and emerging trends. Notable additions include:

  • Cultural and Recreational: Engage in a tapestry of cultural experiences with Taiko drumming and classes featuring details about famous artists, including Alexander Calder and Wassily Kandinsky.
  • Classes for Tweens and Teens: Learn the latest dance moves in a line or belly dancing class, or get creative with hand-building techniques in a pottery class.
  • Outdoor Activities: Get ready to capture amazing photos with a class in photography related to Reno’s annual Balloon Races, or learn wilderness survival skills in a class about backpacking in the Sierras.

Flexible Scheduling and Formats

To accommodate busy schedules, EPIC offers flexible class times, including evening and weekend in-person options, and to provide even greater accessibility and convenience, many courses are virtual.

A 10% discount is available for TMCC employees enrolling in their first EPIC class with a five percent discount for subsequent. The discount does not apply to Career Certificates classes in the Fitness & Sports category and some special interest classes and events.
