The NV Energy Foundation lights the path to success for TMCC students through annual scholarships and support for the Summer Bridge college-readiness program. NV Energy Foundation’s partnership with the TMCC Foundation has positively impacted countless students for nearly two decades.
Since 2012, the NV Energy Foundation’s contributions to the Success First Summer Bridge Program have helped first-generation, low-income students transition from high school to college. The program offers free classes, academic services, and scholarships, equipping students for success.
“NV Energy’s support of Summer Bridge is instrumental to this program’s success,” said Associate Vice President of the TMCC Foundation, Gretchen Sawyer. “The NV Energy Foundation’s support for tuition allows students to earn college credits during Summer Bridge, even before starting their college journey.”
After 15 years, TMCC data shows that Summer Bridge participants are more likely to enroll in higher-level college classes, be enrolled full-time compared to part-time, and remain enrolled in TMCC after their first semester.
“The program empowers first-generation college students to thrive academically—while fostering growth at every step,” said Jocelyn Cabrera, Summer Bridge alumna and program coordinator. “I am very grateful for NV Energy Foundation’s ongoing commitment to student success.”
In addition to supporting Summer Bridge, NV Energy Foundation provides $5,000 annually in scholarships to five TMCC students pursuing degrees in accounting, information technology, construction management, environmental sciences, math, or science.
On behalf of the many TMCC students benefiting from the generous support of the NV Energy Foundation through the years, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for believing in their dreams and potential.
