Fred Lokken Honored with ITC Lifetime Achievement Award

Fred Lokken's ITC lifetime achievement award.
To recognize his achievements in distance education and community colleges, Fred Lokken was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Instructional Technology Council (ITC) Conference in Charleston, SC in early March.
Here at TMCC, Political Science Professor Lokken serves as the Department Chair for the Business, and Political Science, History and Law Departments, and he wears many hats both on-campus and off. Besides bringing his political acumen to classrooms and the local, national and international media, he has also shared his knowledge of distance learning through TMCC’s WebCollege through the years. As a member of the AI and Emerging Technologies Committee, Lokken has also brought speakers and events to TMCC to provide professional development opportunities for his colleagues.
To the world of college educators involved in online teaching, Lokken is a well-known expert who serves as a Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors of ITC, an affiliated council of the American Association of Community Colleges. He contributes essays, participates in webinars, and has shared his knowledge through 500 weekly “From the Desk of Fred” emails since 2015.
Conference attendees were treated to a short video honoring Lokken’s commitment, and they were also invited to bring a “Desk of Fred” item to the conference to share, such as a future-thinking token representing the ongoing innovation Fred inspires.
