Description

This course utilizes the students' academic and clinical experiences to develop new knowledge regarding the roles of baccalaureate-prepared nurses and strategies for successful completion of the RN-BSN program. Students will become familiar with the college online learning management system (LMS) and technology resources; integrate college and program expectations and policies and be introduced to the professional aspects of the baccalaureate-prepared nurse. Nursing concepts addressed throughout the program will be introduced. Resources will be explored to facilitate the successful completion of the program and professional role transition. This course is a prerequisite to enrolling in other RN-BSN program courses.

Description

This course provides knowledge and skills necessary to assist the professional nurse in direct patient care, undertaking those tasks which are supportive to the care of the patient in various health-care settings. Students are introduced to the roles and responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant. Emphasis is placed on acquiring proficiency in direct and indirect care to patients, as defined by the Nevada State Board of Nursing's Scope of Practice. The lab/clinical portion of this course includes selected skills that students have to perform. After satisfactory completion of this course, students are eligible to take the State exam and after passing that exam can become "Certified" Nursing Assistants.
