Monserrath Ramirez
Monserrath, who prefers to be called Monse, began working at TMCC as a peer mentor in the FLAMES Office in 2023. Monse currently attends the University of Nevada, Reno and is studying to earn a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a minor in construction management. She enjoys working with others and helping as many people as possible. She is also a mentor for high school students through the Dean's Future Scholars program at UNR, where she helps students prepare for college. Monse is thrilled to continue working with students. During her free time, Monse loves to play soccer, spend time with family and friends, and drive around town looking at the beautiful Reno skies. Her goal is to travel after graduating from UNR. A fun fact about Monse—she owns three horses and two dogs!
Fernanda Ramos
Fernanda began working at TMCC in the FLAMES Office as a peer mentor in 2023. She is excited to help others navigate the intricacies of financial literacy and ensure that they have the knowledge and resources to do so. Fernanda currently attends the University of Nevada, Reno as a double major in Political Science and International Affairs. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she aspires to go to law school. Fernanda has a passion for helping others and making a positive impact in her community. In her free time, she loves to read, bake, and spend time with family and friends. Fernanda also enjoys traveling and hopes to do more of it in the future!
David Estrada
David started working at TMCC in 2024 as a peer mentor in the FLAMES Office. He was determined to learn how to be financially literate and has a goal to help others do the same. David finds comfort in being able to help others learn about money because he believes that it is a topic that many people are not well-versed in. He is a first-generation student attending University of Nevada, Reno and is studying to earn a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with aspirations of researching sensory prosthetics in addition to becoming a medical doctor. Outside of work and school, David enjoys hanging out with friends, playing video games, and staying active—both physically and mentally!
Joseph Morris
Also known as Joe, began his role as a peer mentor for FLAMES at TMCC in 2024. Motivated by personal financial challenges experienced prior to joining the program, Joe developed a strong interest in financial literacy. Recognizing that many others face similar difficulties, he is committed to helping others avoid those same struggles. Currently pursuing a degree in business and history at TMCC, Joe plans to further his education by attending a trade school and UNR after his time at TMCC. In his free time, he enjoys flying his 1946 Aeronca 7AC Champion in Carson City and is an animal lover with two dogs and two cats.
