Lab Fee: $100. Enrollment in this class requires department consent. Requirements to enter this course are listed at the TMCC EMS website (https://www.tmcc.edu/emergency-medical-services/ems-classes/steps-to-apply). All required documents must be completed to gain access to register for the course. Once all documentation is completely uploaded, contact the department (ems@tmcc.edu) for document review and permission to register. Students are required to purchase the academy uniform (cost approx. $150) and additional equipment. Students will be required to complete skills testing and the National written exam to become certified. Skills testing will be held at TMCC between 12/11-12/15/2023. Students will be notified of their testing date (Cost: $100). In the event of public health restrictions or other emergencies, classes may need to be changed to Web-Live, Web, or Hybrid instruction modes. Students will be notified by instructors and/or academic departments of any required changes.

Description
The primary focus of the Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual posses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transport. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. At the successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to receive EMT Certification from the National Registry of EMTs and the State of Nevada Health Division. Students must be 18 years old upon completion of this class. * This course satisfies 18 hours of instruction toward completing the embedded Human Relations curriculum requirements, in accordance with Embedded Curriculum Guidelines Option A.
