Provides fundamental map concepts including the origins of maps, types of maps and projections, mapping techniques, location reference systems, and interpreting topographic maps. The uses of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and remote sensing for data analysis and assimilation are also introduced.

Description

Study of the physical processes and dynamic systems that shape Earth. Topics include the atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere, and also the interconnectedness of these systems with human society. Emphasis is placed upon evaluating scientific evidence and associating that evidence with scientific hypothesis. Four laboratory experiences required.
