The Science Prep Lab provides laboratory expertise, support and maintenance for science students and faculty, as well as community outreach programs, to promote student success, academic excellence and life-long learning in a safe and productive environment. We are a hands-on, hardworking group of individuals who want to contribute to the learning experience of hundreds of science-oriented students at Truckee Meadows Community College.

The Prep Lab covers two facets: the Biology Department and the Physical Sciences Department. We are responsible for taking care of a wide range of lab spaces, including microbiology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and a handful of others.

The Science Prep Lab focuses on the College's mission through the development of relevant and creative lab experiences delivered in a safe manner which foster a dynamic and meaningful learning environment.

Job and Research Opportunities

The Science Prep Lab offers paid positions in the lab to gain valuable experience in a lab setting and acquire laboratory skills that are used in many research jobs. You can check for positions and apply on Handshake.

Looking for a research opportunity? If you are interested in a career in science, you’ll get an important head start in undergraduate research opportunities, such as Design-to-Data (D2D), our Natural History Museum, or supplemental instruction research.  Our alumni have gone on to study and work at some of the best institutions in the country, including the University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and others!
