Classified employees are a critical part of the culture of Truckee Meadows Community College. This award is to honor Classified employees who support and create educational opportunities, promote innovative ideas, and contribute to the success of students, faculty, and administrators.
The Classified employee you nominate must be employed for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years before he/she may be selected as an Innovator Classified Employee.

Submission and Eligibility Guidelines
Submissions should be as detailed as possible in order to provide the selection committee with a significant amount of material for review.
- Any staff, faculty member or student can nominate an eligible Classified employee for this award. Classified employees may not nominate themselves for the award.
- Nominator(s) can submit a singular or a joint nomination for a Classified employee.
- A minimum of one nomination must be received for the same employee to be considered for this award.
- The Classified employee must be employed for a minimum of three consecutive years before he/she may be selected as an Innovator Classified Employee.
- The Classified employee is only eligible to be recognized once every three years for this award.
- Classified employees who win this award are also eligible to be recognized as the Classified Employee of the Month, and/or the Classified Employee of the Year.
Nomination Guidelines
Nominations will be based on the Classified employee’s exhibition of two or more of the following:
- Morale and Motivation: An employee is who is consistent in their efforts in boosting morale and motivating others. Individuals who consistently go above and beyond to create a positive work environment.
- Retention: The employee contributions to the organization over at least three years have made a significant impact on the organization’s success, growth or culture.
- Innovation: The employee is creative in developing and implementing innovation and collaboration to support TMCC.
- Student Success: An employee whose contributions to student success reinforces their dedication to providing the best possible educational experience.
- Positive Attitude: An employee who maintains a positive attitude even in challenging situations. Someone who inspires others by their optimistic approach.
Twelve awards will be awarded at the end of Fall Semester, and twelve at the end of Spring Semester. Winners will receive:
- A certificate.
- Recognition in a TMCC college-wide email and in an announcement posted on the TMCC website and social media pages.
- A gross monetary award of $500.
