Facilities and Auxiliary Services Committee

Purpose

The TMCC Facilities and Auxiliary Services Committee (FASC) is a subcomittee of the TMCC Planning Council, established to support the strategic goals of the College by focusing on the planning, maintenance, and enhancement of campus facilities and auxiliary services. The committee will ensure that campus facilities are developed and maintained to provide a safe, sustainable, and functional environment conducive to teaching, learning, and community engagement. The committee will also cover affairs of auxiliary services to include Café Verde, Coffee Bar, Mailroom, Vending, Lizard Book Nook, Campus Transportation, and other operational services that support the overall campus experience.

Objectives

  • Strategic Facilities Planning: Align campus development and maintenance efforts with the College’s strategic goals and long-term master plan. This includes recommendations, conversations, and updates on capital improvements, renovations, and new construction projects.
  • Sustainability and Conservation Initiatives: Promote sustainable practices in facilities management and auxiliary services. This includes energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation, ensuring the College meets its environmental stewardship goals.
  • Campus Safety and Accessibility: Ensure that all facilities adhere to safety regulations, are well-maintained, and accessible to all members of the campus community, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Operational Efficiency: Optimize the performance of services to ensure they efficiently and effectively meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Facilities Departments, auxiliary services providers, and the College community to ensure transparency in decision-making and to address concerns related to campus facilities and services.

Membership

The FASC is comprised of members representing key stakeholders, including:

  • Marcus Ollom, Facilities Operations and Capital Planning
  • Yuli Chavez Camarena, Recruitment and Access Center
  • Geoffrey Hawkins, Athletics
  • Walter Coley, Auxiliary Services
  • Jackie Draper, Scheduling

Members will be appointed based on their expertise and interest in facilities and auxiliary services, with terms reviewed annually.

About the Committee

Reporting Structure

The FASC will report to the TMCC Planning Council, providing updates on key initiatives, capital projects, and other matters within its purview. Recommendations from the committee will be forwarded to the Planning Council and onward to Executive Leadership for consideration and approval.

Authority

The FASC serves in an advisory capacity, with the authority to make recommendations on facilities planning and auxiliary services to the TMCC Planning Council. It does not have final decision-making authority but plays a key role in shaping campus development policies and ensuring operational excellence.

Scope

The FASC’s scope encompasses all physical facilities on the TMCC campus and auxiliary services that contribute to campus life, including but not limited to:

  • Building maintenance and upgrades
  • Construction projects
  • Campus safety
  • Sustainability initiatives
  • Parking and transportation
  • Dining and retail services
  • Campus-wide utilities

Review and Amendments

The FASC and TMCC Planning Council will review this charter annually, amending it as necessary to align with evolving campus needs and priorities.

This charter ensures that the TMCC Facilities and Auxiliary Services Committee operates with a clear purpose, structured governance, and an emphasis on continuous improvement in support of the College's mission.

Meetings

The FASC will meet biweekly during the academic year and as needed during breaks. Agendas, minutes, and reports will be maintained and made available to the TMCC Planning Council. Subcommittees may be formed to address specific issues or initiatives as necessary.
