Description
The Welding Program Coordinator will serve as the point of contact for programmatic matters. The program coordinator will work with the welding faculty to gain consensus and act as a communication liaison between the faculty, the Director, Dean and Department Chair. The program coordinator will complete a variety of administrative tasks in a timely manner while working with internal and external stakeholders.
Scope of Work
The Program Coordinator position serves during the Spring 2025 Semester. The assignment will cover the 88 contract days of the Spring 2025 Semester. This additional assignment is not automatically renewed annually.
Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Work with the faculty to develop recommendations for a student-centered semester schedule for review and approval by the Department Chair.
- Make staffing and room assignment recommendations for the schedule for approval by the Department Chair.
- Hold at least two department meetings.
- Represent the faculty voice at meetings with employer partners.
- Assist with the development and oversight of the budget of the Welding Program.
- Select, supervise, and evaluate such number of qualified part-time instructors as is necessary to carry out the program.
- Coordinate assignment of course assessments and assist in completing them.
- Complete course substitution forms.
- Arrange adequate educational facilities and equipment for training.
- Ensure a regular cadence of Advisory Board Meetings and meet with the Advisory Board Chair (typically an industry partner) to develop the agenda (twice per year).
- Coordinate and assist with curriculum revision and development, including revision and development of program learning outcomes.
- Participate in program outreach (career fairs, open houses, special events).
- Serve as primary point-of-contact for student inquiries.
- Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.
- Maintain sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students.
- Comply with published college policies, procedures and deadlines
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications
The ideal candidates for this position will meet the following criteria:
The Welding Program Coordinator must meet minimum qualifications for the discipline and have experience teaching at the college level. Must have a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, strong organizational skills, effective interpersonal and interprofessional communication skills, ability to gather consensus, and be highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Canvas. Experience with Courseleaf, E-Lumen, and Peoplesoft are preferred.
Compensation
This assignment is a 3-credit release or stipend of $3,000 for the Spring 2025 Semester.
