Description
Support is needed during the 2024–25 academic year to assist in continued recruitment efforts and cohort support for the Education degree programs. Scope of degrees to include: Elementary Education Teacher Prep AA, Secondary Education AA, English AA, History AA, and the Secondary Education AS.
Scope of Work
The assignment will begin July 1, 2024 and will end June 30, 2025; approximately 210 work hours/year. This additional assignment is not automatically renewed annually.
Responsibilities and Deliverables
As the Support and Outreach Specialist for the Education degree programs you will play a key role in student recruitment, retention, program support and growth, and community outreach. Responsibilities and deliverables will include:
- Community Outreach and Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, high schools, and other relevant stakeholders to promote awareness of the various Education AA and AS degrees.
- Participate in outreach events, workshops, and information sessions to engage current and prospective students as well as community members.
- Recruitment, Student Support, and Program Support
- Assist in recruiting interested students to Education programs by providing information about admission requirements, program offerings, and course enrollment.
- Review transcripts and/or course history of prospective students to determine alignment with the Education degree programs.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to current and prospective students regarding program requirements and pathways to completion.
- Recommend course sequencing and scheduling options to students based on their academic background, program requirements, and personal goals.
- Prioritize student support:
- Create and maintain frequent communication and outreach efforts with students
- Share reminders of important dates and events
- Ensure timely enrollment and follow-through
- Remind and encourage students to persist in order to attain their educational goals
- Ensure overall support and offer resources accordingly
- Student Meetings and Orientations
- Attend various student meetings, orientations, and recruitment events to share information about the Education degree programs and support students in their academic journey.
- Serve as a resource and point of contact for students seeking information and assistance related to the Education program.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will meet the following criteria:
- Current TMCC employee (Academic or Administrative Faculty or Classified Staff)
- Not a participant in the compensated Faculty Advising program
Compensation
3 credits of reassigned time per semester or monetary stipend. (Total 6 credits per year or max stipend of $5,712).

Note: Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.
